Just an update
I think I owe some explanation. I am teaching at Camp Sea Gull, a huge sailing camp here on the Neuse river in Arapahoe NC. It's a 24 Hour 7 days a week job with little time off and really crappy computers so up loads will be almost imposable. I will try my best to keep up with my watches but that will be hard. I'm really enjoying it here though and am thrilled that they have given me a the highest job on the sailing staff where I'm still actually sailing instead of just paperwork (some of which I do still have to do) even though I have never been on staff before or sailed the particular class of boat that I am teaching. My title is Lightning trainer (Lightning being the class of boat I am teaching) and I currently have 6 trainees assigned to me one of which I need to brag on. First of all it takes a camper a long time to get high enough ranks to even sign up for Lightning training, sometime several summers. However I have this one guy who got to training in one year last year and is now my trainee. He is an amazing sailor and picks up new things real quick. This morning he tackled sailing the boat by himself without a rudder (what you use to steer the boat(I took it out)). Now a Lightning is not a small boat nor is it simple. This guy was sailing a straight line and chasing motorboats in 15 minutes. The real kicker? He's 10 years old. Well my time off is almost up so I have to go.
Stay the course.
Until next time.
