Artist's Comments

A shot of my cousin Jesse standing on the bowsprit of the training ship at the maritime museum in Seattle. I always liked silhouette portraits. I've never been able to pin down why though. I think it has something to do with my distaste for the "smile for the camera" type shots. A picture of someone's silhouette forces you to focus on the shot as a whole while still emphasizing the person as the subject. Just my thoughts at 2:00 am. We will see if they still make sense in the morning.

I like silhouette shots too, and this is a pretty nice one. Maybe it's because my monitor is so bright, but I can see some detail on his shirt, face and shoes. The angle in this shot is great too. I'd say this is definitely one of your best.

Thank you so much. Now that you mention it I can too if I move it to my other screen. Maybe I need to do some calibrating.

This is great.
the longer I look at it, the more I like it.
I was skeptic about the sky-colour first, but it fits.
Amazing.
